Sushree Mishra, our attitude is really the only thing that we can influence.
I’ve been very interested in Stoic philosophy for a long time (still am) — and they have this concept of ‘dichotomy of control’. It goes like this:
- There are things you can control in life
- There are things you can’t control in life
- Focus on what you CAN control and let go of the rest (because you can’t control it, duh).
It turns out, that the only thing (really) that we can control — is out attitude towards life. That’s what we should influence. That’s the only thing that we can influence.
In this way, happiness is nothing more than a practice, a habit — that comes from thinking positively.
Thank you for writing this.
