Attention monogamy
Recently, I started to look at time differently. I used to want to stretch time, trick it, cheat it. Find a way to cram more things into my calendar than I possibly could.
I would run while listening to a podcast, check my messages while brushing my teeth, and read a book while on my commute. I would also take 2–3 projects at a time instead of going deep on one. I would cram 5–6 calls per day. I would make ambitious plans for the year that left me anxious. I would spread myself too thin in the hope that I could use the volume and quantity of work to my advantage.
